From Long Island to Pleasure Island

EILEEN AND MICHAEL MEILUNAS, owners of Luna Beach Interiors, dreamed of starting an interior design company and relocating their family to Orange Beach, Alabama, also known to some as Pleasure Island. They carefully weighed their decision to leave their long time roots on Long Island. Each had a successful career on Park Avenue in New York City. In addition, Eileen sat on the Advisory Board for the renovation of the New York Palace Hotel and this in turn helped shape her goal of owning her own design business. With that desire, they opted for a new quality of life, better education for their young children and more entrepreneurial business opportunities.

With a solid business plan and marketing research in place, the Meilunas' opened Luna Beach Interiors in June 2006 at The Commons in Orange Beach. In addition to design services for investment properties, Luna Beach Interiors offers a vast assortment of home interior accessories and furnishings along with local art.

"We are passionate in providing custom interior design services for our clients. The key is that our company does the work while our clients relax. We listen to our customers and take a practical approach to the design," explained Eileen Meilunas. "Most recently we have been working closely with the #1 homebuilder in the United States, D.R. Horton. We work with them staging model homes throughout our area and in Northwest Florida. This in itself adds another dimension to the mix and allows us to broaden our horizon."

CRAWFORD ZEAGLER BARNES, a native of Marion, Alabama, moved to the Gulf Coast to pursue her passion for art and design. She graduated from The University of Alabama in 2008 where she earned a BS degree in Interior Design and then joined Luna Beach Interiors. The University's Interior Design program is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). It in turn teaches students how to make the design process exciting and successful for their clients. Crawford joined our design team with great enthusiasm and energy and is an Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), an organization that upholds the ethics and standards for the design profession. She is immensely talented and looks forward to sharing her innovative and creative style with you on your next project.
